Job Ready Program 200 (JRP200) is a practical placement program designed for individuals seeking professional experience in social work, community services, healthcare, or disability support in Australia.

The program offers a structured environment where participants can apply their existing knowledge while becoming familiar with the expectations and industry standards in real workplace settings.

1- Who is the Job Ready Program 200 for?

This program is suitable for individuals who:

  • Are currently studying or have completed a course in social work, community services, psychology, allied health assistance, youth work, or a related field
  • Are transitioning into the community or human services sector and wish to explore career options in disability support, aged care, mental health, or NDIS
  • Are looking for a structured and guided placement to enhance their practical experience and strengthen their professional profile
2 – What does the program offer?

200 hours of workplace-based practical experience
Participants will engage in hands-on activities at a host organisation in the community or healthcare sector in Australia. Tasks may include:

  • Interacting with clients, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Practising case note writing, needs assessment, and service coordination
  • Observing and supporting service delivery aligned with industry standards

Supervision and mentoring
Throughout the placement, participants will receive support and guidance from experienced mentors to ensure professional learning is meaningful and applicable.

Completion documentation
Upon finishing the placement, participants will receive a certificate of completion and a host organisation reference (where applicable), which can support further study, employment, or registration processes.

Career development support
Depending on individual needs, participants may also receive assistance with resume writing, interview preparation, and career planning after the program.

3 – Ongoing Support from Next Gem

As the coordinating organisation, Next Gem provides end-to-end support to participants throughout the program.

  • Pre-placement consultation
    We work closely with participants to understand their background, goals, and preferences in order to recommend suitable placement options.
  • Administrative guidance
    Next Gem assists with document preparation, including Police Checks, WWCC, NDIS Worker Screening, First Aid, CPR, COVID-19 vaccination proof, and Manual Handling certification.
  • Host organisation coordination
    We identify and match participants with placement opportunities that align with their goals and ensure ongoing communication between all parties.
  • Monitoring and problem-solving
    Should any issues arise during the placement, participants can contact our support team for assistance and resolution.
  • Post-placement advice
    Participants may continue to receive career guidance or documentation support to help plan their next steps following program completion.
4 – Entry Requirements

To join the program, participants must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a relevant qualification
  • Have significant practical experience in community services or human services
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English in a workplace context
  • Be willing and able to provide the following documentation:
    • National Police Check
    • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
    • NDIS Worker Screening Check
    • COVID-19 vaccination certificate
    • First Aid and CPR certification
    • Manual Handling certificate (if required)
