Eligibility

  • Qualifications
Applicant is currently enrolled in or has recently completed a relevant qualification. Significant industry experience may also be considered in lieu of formal study.

Applicant has competent English competency. 
Applicants are expected to demonstrate commitment, reliability, and a willingness to learn. To be eligible for placement in disability and human services settings, applicants should hold or be willing to obtain the following documents:
  • National Police Check
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • COVID-19 Vaccination
  • First Aid Certificate
  • CPR Certificate
  • Manual Handling Certificate

Whether you’re offered a job will depend on your performance and the host organisation’s assessment — strong performance during placement can lead to promising opportunities.

Can the placement hours count towards permanent residency?
This may be required depending on your assessment outcome. Please check with a registered migration agent for your specific case.

Can I choose where to do my placement?
Yes. You may express preferences regarding the location, sector, or type of organisation. Next Gem will do our best to arrange a placement that aligns with your career goals and interests.

I have no prior practical experience — will I be able to keep up?
Yes. Before placement, you will receive orientation and foundational training including communication skills, workplace expectations, and professional conduct to help you transition smoothly into a real work environment.

What support will Next Gem provide during the program?
Next Gem offers end-to-end support, including career consultation, placement arrangement, ongoing check-ins, issue resolution, as well as resume coaching, interview preparation, and issuing official completion documents.
